Environmental project

Colombia is among the world's leading coal producers and is heavily economically dependent on fossil fuels: between 40 and 50% of its exports are coal and oil. That is why we are working to reduce the environmental impacts caused by fossil fuels, such as the use of cooking oil. One liter of oil can contaminate 1,000 liters of water.

Pollution Reduction: Used oil, if disposed of improperly, can end up in sewer systems, rivers, and other bodies of water. This can cause pipe blockages, water pollution, and harm to aquatic life. Recycling it helps prevent these problems. Resource Conservation: By recycling oil to make soap, a resource that would otherwise be wasted is put to good use. This not only reduces the need for new raw materials but also decreases the amount of waste going to landfills. Environmental Education and Awareness: Recycling oil and turning it into useful products like soap helps raise awareness about the importance of recycling and waste management. It is a practical way to teach people about sustainability and environmental protection. Water Resource Protection: In many regions of Colombia, wastewater treatment systems may not be fully effective. Discarded oil without treatment can worsen water quality, affecting communities that depend on these resources for their daily lives and agriculture.

Public Health: Water and soil contamination from used oil can have negative consequences for human health. Recycling oil and preventing it from reaching these ecosystems reduces public health risks.

Sustainable Development: The creation of recycled products and waste management are key aspects of sustainable development. In Colombian communities, especially in rural or developing areas, oil recycling and soap production can be part of broader initiatives to foster economic development and self-sufficiency.

Reduced Waste Management Costs: Proper management of waste oil can reduce the costs associated with its disposal and treatment. In communities facing economic challenges, this can alleviate some of the financial burden related to waste management.
